Abstract Preview
Women play significant but often underrecognized roles in Nigerian agriculture. This study assessed women's participation in agricultural value chains in Nasarawa State. Using a multi-stage sampling technique, 250 women farmers and agribusiness operators were surveyed. Results showed women predominantly participated in production (78%), processing (65%), and marketing (72%) but had limited involvement in input supply (23%) and transportation (18%). Women contributed an average of 45% of household farm labor. Constraints included limited access to land (72%), inadequate credit (68%), and cultural restrictions (45%). Participation was positively associated with education, household size, and membership in women groups. Policy recommendations include targeted credit schemes and land reform.
